Is there a lot of walking?
Since there’s a lot of space between many of the monuments, you can be on your feet quite a while so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. You’ll also want to dress appropriately. During the summer, go with light clothing and a hat with a large brim for sun protection. If you’re visiting in winter, layers are the way to go. Another cool way to get around the National Mall is on a bike or Segway tour.
